Shellter (2010)

Review by David Rupp

A young woman awakens in a fallout shelter and is coerced into horrific acts in order to stay alive.
Written and directed by Dan Donley
Starring: Cari Sanders, William David Tulin and Maria Olsen.
Shellter turned out to be exactly the opposite of what I thought it was going to be at the beginning. What it did turn out to be was a fine piece of twisted cinema, twisted in concept, dwisted in design, twisted in the mental arena as well as storytelling. I as per the usual don't like to give the surprises away but this is a good example of a mind fuck.
At first the acting seemed a little off, but that also changed. Seen from the perspective of the patient/survivor/replacement nurse it is a safe haven, a refuge from the world gone mad. But detach yourself from her view and stroll around and have a look see, it gets much deeper.
Technically it was a well shot film, good sound and use of lighting. Not too much on special features but this DVD can stand well without that for now.
So go on have this in your player, and decide to what lengths you would go through to survive.
