Let Sleeping Corpses Lie (1974)
Review by Jeff Hudson

Directed by: Jorge Grau

Starring:
Ray Lovelock/George
Christina Galbo/Edna
Jeannine Mestre/Katie
Arthur Kennedy/Inspector

Plot:
Brought about by the use of a new, radiation emitting device intended to destroy insect's nervous systems, the dead are brought back to life due to the jump start the radiation provides to their nervous systems. After the murder of a woman's estranged husband, police suspect the woman, her sister and a relative stranger (who was only along because the sister had run into his motorcycle only hours prior) of involvement in the murder, and as the bodies begin to accumulate the police chief becomes more and more convinced of their involvement.

Acting:
The acting in this flick was pretty good for the most part, Ray Lovelock(George) was spot on as the badass dude that takes charge of things, and seemed to give it his all, Christina Galbo(Edna) was ok and did what she had to, but mostly kept quiet and did what George said, The rest of cast was ok also.

Gore:
We don’t get a ton of blood and guts but what we do get is awesome, we get a rock to the head, some off screen stuff, a guy stabbed with a pipe, a guy stabbed in the throat, flesh and guts ripped out and eaten, zombies on fire, a guy ran over, some axe action, a girl stabbed, and some strangling.

T & A:
We get one pair of breasts and a bush shot.

Directing:
Jorge did a ok job with the film, kind of standard shots, and a basic plot for a zombie flick, but it worked well.

Soundtrack:
We get a real cool and eerie score, but the bad thing is it’s not used much.

Final thoughts:
Let Sleeping Corpses Lie is a very under rated flick and not a lot of people talk about this zombie movie much. I believe it is the first ever zombie movie as we know them to be shot in color coming out 4 years before Dawn Of The Dead. We get some good acting, killer gore effects, and cool plot, I would say if you love zombie movies this is a must to see and add to your collection. I give it a 8/10.
