The Slumber Party Massacre (1982)
Review by Jeff
Directed by: Amy Holden Jones
Starring:
Michelle Michaels/Trish
Robin Stille/Valerie
Michael Villella/Russ Thorn
Brinke Stevens/Linda
Plot:
An eighteen-year-old high school girl is left at home by her parents and she decides to have a slumber party. There is friction between some of the invited guests and the new girl, who is better at basketball than they, so the new girl decides to stay at home (which is conveniently across the street from the host's house). Meanwhile, a murderer of five people has escaped and is at large, and eventually makes his way to the party, with only the new girl to help them.
Acting:
The acting in this film was ok for the most part, Michael Villella(Russ Thorn) was great as the killer, his body language and facial expressions were great and made him fit the role good, Robin Stille(Valerie) was good as the good girl that doesn’t want to cause any problems and I thought stood out from the rest of the ladies, the rest of cast was just bodies waiting to get drilled up.
Gore:
The gore looked very realistic and good when we see it, we get lots of drill action, some off screen kills, a head cut off, some stabbing, a hand cut off, and a stomach sliced open.
T & A:
It’s a slumber party so we get 3 pairs of boobs, and some butt shots.
Directing:
Amy did a great job with the lighting in this movie, the use of shadows added to the creepiness of the film, she also uses a lot false scare moments.
Soundtrack:
We get a real nice organ type of score that was perfect for this movie.
Final thoughts:
The Slumber Party Massacre is a classic slasher flick from the 80’s, and the first of more of this type. There is good acting, a killer score, and some real cool gore effects that I think stands out for a movie of this type, and it’s kind of surprising a woman directed this movie, but at the same time you can tell that it help with the way the characters were done, it felt very realistic. If you are a fan of slasher flicks give this one a watch. I give it a 8/10.
