The Broken (2008)
Review by Jeff Hudson

Directed by: Sean Ellis
Starring:
Lena Headey/Gina
Melvil Poupaud/Stefan
Richard Jenkins/John
Plot:
The life of a successful radiologist spirals out of control when she sees the spitting image of herself driving down a London street. While attempting to uncover who the imposter could be, she stumbles into a terrifying mystery that her family and closest friends are somehow involved in, leaving her with no one to trust.
Acting:
The acting in this movie was pretty good from the start, Lena Headey(Gina) looked like she was confused all the time and didn’t know what the hell was going on so I guess for her sake she did a pretty good job, Melvil Poupaud(Stefan) is pretty creepy when he turns to the dark side of things and some shots of him standing staring at nothing is pretty freaky, Richard Jenkins(John) plays Gina’s dad real well he looks and feels like a genuine father figure.
Gore:
This wasn’t a blood feast or anything but some of death scenes were real brutal even if they were off screen you could iThis is not a movie for all of you gore hounds out there it’s on the thriller side of things but we do get a fist shoved down someone’s mouth, and some beatings.
T & A:
Nope not a thing here.
Directing:
Sean did a pretty nice job with the cinematography here and some of the shots where pretty cool like when you see behind the mirrors those shots looked extremely nice.
Soundtrack:
We get a real big suspenseful score that most of the time lead up to nothing so it felt like a big let down, it always seemed like something was going to happen then nope we don’t get a thing.
Final thoughts:
I know by reading most of the stuff I talked about you would think it was a descent flick so I hate to let everyone down but it stunk, the movie felt like it had been done before and stolen a lot of stuff from Invasion Of The Body Snatchers and Mirrors, the only difference is those movies had great plots and went somewhere at the end they didn’t leave you feeling like you had wasted your time. So I would say while it had a great look to it and the actors/actresses did all they could it didn’t save it from what it was, so I say skip this one all together. I give it a 2/10.
