The Collector (2009)

Review by Jeff Hudson

Directed by: Marcus Dunstan

Starring:
Josh Stewart/Arkin
Karley Scott Collins/Hannah
Michael Burke/Michael

Plot:
Desperate to repay his debt to his ex-wife an ex-con plots a heist at his new employers country home unaware that a second criminal has also targeted the property and rigged it with a series of deadly traps.

Acting:
The acting was ok at times Josh Stewart(Arkin) was annoying and you really couldn’t get behind him as your good guy type of lead because he was a thief and breaking into the house at the same time. He was really the only lead person other than Karley Scott Collins(Hannah) who was just the little girl acting scared most of the time.

Gore:
The movie was pretty gory, we get booby traps galore here that was very unbelievable to say the least. We get some off screen stuff, stabbing, a ladies mouth sewed shut, a knife to the head, fingers cut off, a guy electrocuted and a nasty dog attack.

T & A:
We get 2 pairs of the boobs here.

Directing:
Marcus did such a wonderful job making this feel like a Saw movie, oh wait could that be because he worked on writing Saw 4-7? yuppers. The flick was dark, and just had a bad feel that I hate about most horror movies made today.

Soundtrack:
We get a little rock music here and there and a ok industrial sounding score.

Final thoughts:
The Collector was a little different than I thought it would be, I was thinking it would be a cool mystery home invasion type of flick, but no instead it was a Saw meets Hostel meets Homer Alone. This was just another torture porn flick that was very mean spirited and left us with nothing throughout the movie to care for other than the little girl. Just the idea behind this movie left me wanting my hour and a half back. I would say skip this flick unless you love torture porn crap. I give it a 2/10.
