The Eye (2008)
Review by Jeff Hudson

Directed by: David Moreau & Xavier Palud
Starring:
Jessica Alba/Sydney
Alessandro Nivola/Dr. Paul Faulkner
Parker Posey/Helen
Chloe Moretz/Alicia
Plot:
Sydney, a young, blind violinist is given the chance to see for the first time since childhood through a corneal transplant. As Sydney adjusts to a dizzying new world of colors and shapes, she is haunted by frightening visions of death itself capturing the doomed and dragging them away from the world of the living. Terrorized and on the brink of insanity, Sydney must discover whose eyes she has inherited, and what secret visions they have held.
Acting:
Jessica Alba(Sydney) did a ok job but most of the time she wasn’t that believable to me in this role, Alessandro Nivola(Dr. Faulkner) played a asshole to the best of his ability and I thought was real good with what he was given, Parker Posey(Helen) has a small role but does a nice job with it.
Gore:
The gore was missing from this movie, but we do get a dude on fire and a girl hanging herself.
T & A:
Not a thing here.
Directing:
David and Xavier made this look like most other Japanese horror movie remakes with the bad cgi, and they sure knew how to drag the movie out.
Soundtrack:
We get a pretty good classical score, but nothing that helped the film be more suspenseful.
Final thoughts:
This was basically what I thought it would be, another bad Japanese horror remake, just because The Ring was a great remake doesn’t mean anything will work. I don’t blame the actors for the terrible lines they were given but it was hard to care for any of the people in this movie, and it just dragged and dragged. So if your like me and don’t care for all the remakes coming out stay away from this movie and go rent the original movie because it kicks ass and is a lot better than this. I give it a 2/10.
