The Feed (2011)

Review by David Rupp

Having secured what appears to be the ultimate venue in the form of the historic Brenway Movie Theatre, the Ghost Chasers, a team of reality TV paranormal investigators, are confident that their annual live broadcast will be one of their best shows to date. However, when the sleepy Central Pennsylvania movie house turns out to be a bit more active than they had anticipated, the prospect of record-breaking ratings quickly takes a back seat to the basest of all human instincts: Survival.

Written & Directed by Steve Gibson
Starring: Seth Drick, Chip Facka and Brianna Healey

I know quite a few of you out there like to make independent movies your moving target, but that's a diatribe for another day and article. The Feed is one of the finer examples of creative enginuity you can find in the indie market. For one it's fresh and exciting, spoofing off of the slew of paranormal adventure shows. I mean you can almost get lost in the experience thanks to the amount of detail Fist In Post has put into the production. "What?" you say. There are commercial breaks throughout the "live" show (even a law offices one with Lloyd Kaufman), and it even has the little station identifier that pops up on the bottom of the screen.
It starts off like a fairly typical investigation but wades into creepy water until you find yourself over your head and treading water, with an ending that just messes with you in so many ways. The acting is fairly good and the cast delivers that TV presence you have come to know from Sy-Fy. I have to reccomend this to anyone who likes things fresh and original. Kudos to The Feed for treading new ground and entertaining us.
