The Fourth Kind (2009)

Review by Jeff Hudson

Directed by:Olatunde Osunsanmi
Starring:
Milla Jovovich/Abbey
Will Patton/Sheriff August
Elias Koteas/Abel
Plot:
Set in modern-day Nome, Alaska, where--mysteriously since the 1960s a disproportionate number of the population has been reported missing every year. Despite multiple FBI investigations of the region, the truth has never been discovered. Here in this remote region, psychologist Dr. Abigail Tyler began videotaping sessions with traumatized patients and unwittingly discovered some of the most disturbing evidence of alien abduction ever documented.
Acting:
The acting was pretty bad based on the main character Mila Jovovich(Abbey) she over acts so much in this film that her character is just unbelievable. Elias Koteas(Abel) is good but he is not used much at all or when he is in the flick he doesn’t really add much to the film. Will Patton(Sheriff August) was there to be the tough acting asshole and he does a ok job, the bad part is you cant blame him.
Gore:
Other than a scene at the start of the film that gives us a nasty stabbing scene we don’t really get much else. We get a shooting that is king of off screen but it works, and that’s it.
T & A:
No anal probing here folks, this flick is bone dry.
Directing:
Olatunde had a ok idea with the split screens from what was supposed to be real and fake shots but knowing nothing was real it didn’t work for me. Overall it looked nice though and maybe he could do something better in the future.
Soundtrack:
The score was real good and chilling at times, but like most shit movies they always seem to have score that works quite well.
Final thoughts:
The Fourth Kind was a good idea but knowing that everything is fake and not even the story’s are true what so ever really draws this movie down for me. The opening was lame with Mila giving us a speech about this being real and the side by side shots got old. The acting was overdone and the movie was just way to over dramatic in general. I would say skip this one and watch a good true alien movie like Fire in the Sky. I give it a 2/10.
