The Legacy (2009)
Review by Jake LeMaster

The assignment was given by our fearless leader and over the last two days I've watched the Legacy twice. Feathered Italian Friends we have a lot of love for you all here at Infernal Dreams but still this is a professional review of your work and horror is always amusing to us. Again taking into consideration this is independent film a lot of the shortcomings have to be ignored. Audio was surprisingly good for an independent film. I almost didn't even notice the woman walking through the woods with a flashlight during the day. There are some very shiny gems in this film and we are getting to them very shortly. The blood was good some of the deaths were very creative. The soundtrack was awesome "hint hint cough".. A lot of the actual sound-effects IE the hollow crunching punch sound, The thudding punch sound and the increase of speed during violent scenes kinda got on my nerves personally. but enough picking at little things... Best make your horror checklist and hope that your virginity is in tact 'cause you may not make it out alive if you break one of the many cliche horror rules.. You may not make it out alive no matter what you do.. lets get to the main course of the review.
The Legacy is your basic friends out in the woods camping, drinking, getting high, and having sex slasher flick it's been done to death so many ways its almost mind numbing, or is it? Night falls and we cut to Betty (Roni Jonah) telling just another campfire story an urban legend of a crazy couple Grim (Al Snow) and Lady (Cyndi Snow) Vicious murderers without a limit on their ability to cause bloodshed.. When all of a sudden at the end of the story as thing would usually go Jonah (Jason Crowe) Jumps out and scares the crap out of everybody. The Legend of the Reapers starts to get real when people start dying off..(Quick note don't walk off into the woods alone if you want to stay alive) Maybe its not so much of a legend after all? The movie had very little down time all the characters kept you interested from the beginning to their personal end. Almost all of them have their little stories but there are 2 characters that stand out more than the others Piper (Katey Stanley) and Hayden (Nathan Day) they are the ones that have the most to lose in this. They are also the most developed characters, as the goofy lover boy and the sweetheart they are the ones you start hoping make it the most. I'm not going to elaborate much on that you have to watch the film, but their performance impressed me thoroughly. There is something for every adult in this film babes, blood, girl on girl action, bad practical jokes and even a quick game of hide and go (beep).. As usual with horror sure the script was slightly cheesy but appropriately so and comical in places. Thank you Tj for being the comic relief throughout the film. It is an all out bloodbath of a good time and I cant wait to see the sequel. 8.5/10
