The Nun (2005)
Review by Jeff Hudson

Directed by: Luis de la Madrid

Starring:
Anita Briem/Eva
Alistair Freeland/Joel
Belén Blanco/Julia
Manu Fullola/Gabriel

Plot:
Nun Ursula is the principal of a Catholic boarding school, when she finds that the teenage student Mary is pregnant, she decides to purify the girl with water, almost killing her. Her class and dorm mates fight with the nun and drown her in a bathtub. The six teenagers dump her body in a lake with holy water and make a pact of silence. Eighteen years later, the spirit of the nun is released from the lake and possesses the daughter of Mary, Eve, seeking revenge against the former students and killing each one of them like their saint patrons did to achieve the forgiveness of god.

Acting:
The acting was really bad, Anita Briem(Eva) seemed really out of place with the rest of the cast and didn’t add a lot to the main role, Alistair Freeland(Joel) was really annoying and had a lot of shitty lines that wasn’t funny at all, the rest of the cast didn’t really matter they were just extras to die.

Gore:
The gore in this flick was really tame, we get a slit throat, arms cut off, a girl crucified, a lady drowned, a head cut off, a pipe through the chest, a girl burnt to a crisp, and a spear through the stomach.

T & A:
Unlike the nunsploitation movies of the 70’s we don’t get thing.

Directing:
Luis made the flick look real nice, and some of the visual effects were really good but it wasn’t enough to make this movie worth watching.

Soundtrack:
We get a pretty eerie and cool score along with some Spanish music.

Final thoughts:
I was going into this movie thinking it would be a cool mindless slasher type movie that I wouldn’t have to but any thought into and just enjoy, but I was so wrong. The acting was hard to bare, and the nun looked really cool but she didn’t really do shit and was boring the more you seen her and along with a real shit ass ending that didn’t make a lot of sense if you thought about it I would say skip this flick all together and watch something else. I give it a 1/10.
