The Walking Dead
Review by Bindi Lavelle
Story by Robert Kirman Art by Tony Moore
Where would horror be without zombies? They aren't the sharpest tools, but they are far from pleasant. The Walk Dead shows us less Resident Evil action and more drama focused.
In the first edition of this series, small town cop Rick wakes from a coma in an abandoned hospital to find the world has been plagued by zombies. Hoping for the best he races to Atlanta to try and find his family. And after a handful of confrontations, Rick stumbles across a camp and thankfully his family are in the camp. What follows is basically the story of the camp members attempting to live their lives in the situation.
The simple panel structure makes for direct, high impact visual story telling. The art-work gives the reader a thorough sense of the world without intricate detail bogging down the plot.
The Walking Dead is a must read for any zombie fan, this is an enthralling read and provides much promise for the rest of the series.
