The Ward (2011)

Review by David Rupp

A thriller centered on an institutionalized young woman who becomes terrorized by a ghost who stalks the other paitents as well.

Directed by John Carpenter
Written by Michael Rasmussen, Shawn Rasmussen
Starring: Amber Heard, Mamie Gummer and Danielle Panabaker

A really creepy period piece (circa 1966) that really does a good job of scaring the hell out of you. Now I'm not just saying that because John Carpenter directed it, He really has done a fine job of storytelling through the lense.
The mood is dark and the performances are delivered with ferocious accuracy and detail. I particularly liked how the plot spun out, finely paced and just when you think you have everything nailed down, (c'mon you know you do it, we all do) it throws you in a corner and gives you the hose again.
The Ward is an amazing tale and I highly reccomend it to any one frome base fans to the most discriminate horror buff. Raise high your thorazine and tighten your straightjacket straps for one crazy ride.
