Troll (1986)
Review by Jeff Hudson

Directed by: John Carl Buechler
Starring:
Noah Hathaway/Harry Potter Jr.
Jenny Beck/Wendy
June Lockhart/Eunice St. Clair
Michael Moriarty/Harry Potter
Plot:
An evil troll, Torok, the transformed state of the ex-husband of an old friendly witch named Eunice St. Clair, has chosen her apartment building to be the heart of the restoration of the world he once knew. To do this he uses an Emerald ring, and takes possession of a little girl named Wendy, whose brother Harry immediately suspects something wrong. Torok, often in the form of the little girl, goes into each occupant's apartment, hideously transforming people into plant pods.
Acting:
The acting in this film is pretty good, Noah Hathaway(Harry Jr.) was likeable and played the main role real well, Jenny Beck(Wendy) played the evil little sister great, she had a real good presence to her, we also get some cameo’s from Julia Louis-Dreyfus in her first ever movie, and Sonny Bono
Gore:
Other than one gunshot and a monster getting stabbed this flick was very tame, and seemed more fit for the kiddies.
T & A:
None of that stuff here at all.
Directing:
John did a pretty good jab making this flick feel like a fairy tale or just very make believe, and the trolls looked real cool, some of them even looked like Ghoulies, I wonder if they used some for this flick?
Soundtrack:
The score was well done and was childish
sounding.
Final thoughts:
roll is a very different kind of movie, something very original for it’s time, and even something I would say the whole family could watch. We get a good cast of characters, and the dad’s name is Harry Potter, that is some funny shit. I would say it’s worth a watch and it’s a heck of deal to get the two pack with Troll 2, which is nothing like the first one. I give it a 6/10.
