UKM: Ultimate Killing Machine (2006)
Review by Bindi Lavelle

Micheal Madsen owns this simple and bloody indy flick.
UKM, sees four bottom rung army recruits unwittingly become a part of a top secret military experiment. Said military experiment aims to develop (you guessed it) ultimate killing machines. The four are forced to fight their way out of the facility they have become imprisoned in battling mutant soldiers along the way.
The film starts off strong, great action and tension, but from there the momentum just slows right down, never returning to the high of the opening. There are moments where the film seems to lack direction, the touches of comedy stint the violent, slasher leanings of the narrative rather than gel with it.
That being said there is one obvious stand out feature of this film: Micheal Madsen. Madsen barley comes close to flexing a little of his acting chops seen in films like Reservoir Dogs; but in this film there is really no need for him to.
UKM: Ultimate Killing Machine, has all the makings of a tight modern slasher. Unfortunately the pieces aren't quite assembled correctly. This movie can make for pleasant causal viewing, but not much more.5/10
