Video Violence
Review by Jeff
Directed by: Gary Cohen
Starring:
Art Neill/Steven
Jackie Neill/Rachel
Bart Sumner/Howard
Uke/Eli
Plot:
A normal, unsuspecting couple Steve and Rachel find themselves completely immersed in a town of blood-drunk crazies. Led by sickos Howard and Eli, these backwater psychopaths produce and watch their own snuff movies in which victims are outsiders or citizens trying to leave the close-knit community of killers.
Acting:
The acting in this film is ok for as low budget as it was, Art Neill(Steven) was good as the local video store owner, that wants to know what the hell is going on in this crazy town, Jackie Neill(Rachel) who plays Steven’s wife is not so good, her acting is real bad.
Gore:
This is where the movie is supposed to shine, we get a girl beat with a bat, hands cut off, some strait razor action, girl stabbed with a ice pick, girl stabbed in the neck, and a arm cut off. The gore and special effects were real nice.
Directing:
We get 2 pairs here.
Directing:
Cohen was way ahead of his time with this type of movie, for being shot of video it looked real nice and felt pretty realistic, also there are some cool shots inside the video store, got to love the old big vhs boxes.
Soundtrack:
We get a pretty shitty score that repeats itself throughout the whole film.
Final thoughts:
Like I said earlier in the review this movie was way ahead of it’s time with the torture theme, you can see where saw and the other shitty movie could have got the idea from. The acting was ok, the gore was sweet and pretty nasty at times, but this film didn’t really do anything for me. I give it a 5/10.
