Touted as a partnered release from the new Hammer camp, Vertigo puts out this chilling, dark story of loss, ritual, death and rebirth. My wife conjured up a good paralel for Wake Wood, Pet Sematary meets The Wicker Man and I have to agree. It follows the parents of a girl killed by a mad dog on her birthday, they end up in the small village of Wake Wood.
The acting in this is very strong, disturbing and the subject will stick with you well past waking hours. Beautifully shot and edited you can't help but watch in awe as the events unfold. some predictable moments are totally offset by twists that hit you like a shovel. I really reccomend this movie, seek it out, watch it and pass it on.
