Wrestlemaniac (2006)
Review by Jeff Hudson

Directed by: Jesse Baget

Starring:
Rey Misterio Sr./El Mascarado
Leyla Razzari/Dallas
Jeremy Radin/Steve
Adam Huss/Alphonse

Plot:
On their way to Mexico, the cast and crew of a low-budget film get lost and come upon "La Sangre De Dios", a ghost town with a legend about an insane Mexican wrestler. The director, Alphonse, likes the town's gritty appearance and decides it would be the perfect setting for his film. The crew positions the camera and snaps on the lights. When Alphonse yells "Action!", it arouses the famous and now insane Luchador, "El Mascarado", who begins a game of his own. One by one, the cast and crew are snatched, beaten and dragged to a bloody death. The few left alive must figure out how to beat the wrestler at his own deadly game, or die trying.

Acting:
The acting in this movie was ok but not the best, Rey Misterio(El Mascarado) played the role of the killer great, he was very believable and was cool, Adam Huss(Alphonse) added some good humor to flick because other than him the rest of the cast was pretty boring and didn’t add a lot to the flick.

Gore:
The gore was pretty cool, we get some off screen stuff, a nail to the chest, a face smashed against the wall, face’s ripped off, a guy stabbed with a key, a nail board to the back, and a pipe through the stomach.

T & A:
We get 1 and a half boob shots here.

Directing:
Jesse did a ok job, there were some pretty slick shots at times, but one thing I didn’t like was a lot of the stuff that was shot off camera I would have likes to seen.

Soundtrack:
There was a cool score that didn’t overshadow the movie which was good, and we also get some Mexican music.

Final thoughts:
Wrestlemaniac was like I thought it was going to be, it was a cool idea that hasn’t really been done that I know of, there was fairly good acting, the gore was cool but I thought there could have been more shown, the off screen kills kind of sucked but oh well. If you enjoy slasher flicks, or are into wrestling you should enjoy this. I give it a 6/10.
