Zombie Love (2006)
Review by Jeff Hudson

Directed by: Yfke Van Berckelaer
Starring:
Brad Culver/Dante
Esme Allen/Claudia
Plot:
The musical Zombie Love tells the story of Dante, a 200 year old zombie, who falls in love with Claudia, a mortal girl, after he saves her from an attack by two grave robbers. Thinking that a zombie could never win her love, he changes his flesh-eating ways in order to win the girl of his dreams.
Acting:
The acting in this short flick was well done, I thought the two leads Brad Culver(Dante) and Esme Allen(Claudia) played off each other quite well and the musical segments with the two where awesome.
Gore:
The blood and effects were surprisingly great, we get a lot of gut munching and biting and blood did flow and the guts and body parts were all over the place.
T & A:
None of that stuff here.
Directing:
Yfke did a great job with the choreography with the dace segments and the setting where really good for such a low budget short flick.
Soundtrack:
This is where the flick shines, the music in this film was well done and we get plenty of numbers, the only thing I thought was overdone was the main song “Zombie Love” was used a little too much. But the singing was really good and better than I have seen in hit musicals.
Final thoughts:
Zombie Love is a unique adaptation for a zombie movie, it had some real good music segments, it was cleaver and funny and also provided us gore hounds with some great effects. This short flick is not available to buy in stores but if you can seek this out “in other ways” its defiantly worth a watch. I give it a 6/10.
